The face is one of the first areas to show the telltale signs of aging. Facial skin is thin and delicate and continually exposed to the sun and other damaging elements. Many products on the market promise to plump your skin and minimize fine lines, but sometimes, creams and serums alone aren’t enough.
I offer the popular dermal filler JUVÉDERM at my London, Ontario, practice to restore patients’ facial volume and give them a fresh, youthful appearance. This blog post will explain the basics of JUVÉDERM treatment and discuss some options that may be right for you.
What is JUVÉDERM?
JUVÉDERM is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler. It is an injectable treatment that boosts volume in the face and reduces the signs of aging. Treatment typically focuses on facial areas such as the:
- Nasolabial folds
It is one of the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedures in North America. In 2018 alone, more than 2 million people received hyaluronic acid-based filler treatments.
How does it work?
A JUVÉDERM session begins with the provider applying a numbing agent to the target area to make treatment as comfortable as possible. Filler is injected into the designated location in a precisely controlled amount. As the hyaluronic acid particles bind with the water in your skin, the skin begins to plump up, and volume is restored. Collagen production also begins to increase naturally.
During the procedure, the provider gently massages the target area after each injection to ensure the product distributes evenly. Treatment usually takes less than 1 hour.
What results can I expect?
Patients can expect same-day results, and little downtime is necessary. Slight swelling around the injection site is common, but this fades within a week. For best results, you should avoid strenuous activity, putting pressure on the area, or sun exposure for 24 hours after treatment.
JUVÉDERM is a versatile product that can fit into many anti-aging plans. When combined with other treatments, it can even be part of a nonsurgical “facelift” for a more dramatic effect.
Which type of JUVÉDERM is right for me?
JUVÉDERM encompasses a whole family of products.
Vobella is excellent for lip enhancement and dark circles under the eye, Volift for sagging skin and Voluma for the correction of volume loss. There are two new exciting additions to the JUVÉDERM family, Volux for chin contouring and Volite for improving skin texture, quality and tone.
JUVÉDERM is an excellent, minimally invasive treatment that makes your skin look fresh, plumped, and rejuvenated. If you’re interested in JUVÉDERM or other medical spa treatments, contact our London, Ontario, practice online or call us at (519) 472-8686.
