How Does AviClear Laser Treatment Work?

When your sebaceous glands overproduce sebum, the excess oil traps dead skin cells and bacteria in your pores, causing breakouts. AviClear uses a 1726 nm wavelength to specifically target those oil-producing sebaceous glands beneath your skin. At that specific wavelength, sebum absorbs twice the energy that water does.

The absorbed laser energy causes the sebaceous glands to shrink and produce less sebum. The AviClear system is the only acne treatment that targets and suppresses the sebaceous gland to improve acne.

AviClear works for all levels of acne severity and is safe for all skin types.

What Can You Expect During Your AviClear Treatment?

After cleansing your skin, your provider will administer the laser treatment to the desired areas. You may feel a mild snapping sensation during the treatment, which most of our patients tolerate well. Although this is a powerful laser, it has a sapphire cooling system and smart sensors to keep you comfortable during your treatment.

You can expect your treatment to take around 30 minutes, and most people resume their regular routine immediately after. You may experience mild skin redness and swelling for the first 2 days after treatment.

Who Is a Good Candidate for AviClear?

You might be a good candidate for this treatment if you are an adolescent or adult and meet the following criteria.

• You want to improve mild, moderate, or severe acne. 
• You have realistic expectations regarding your results. 
• You are intolerant of and have not succeeded with topical and/or oral acne treatments. 
• You want a long-lasting acne treatment. 

How Long Will My AviClear Results Last?

You can expect your results to last up to 2 years or longer. After your AviClear sessions, your skin will continue to improve with time, and you’ll experience fewer and fewer acne breakouts. Most people get optimal results after 3 sessions, but individual results will vary. Talk to your provider about how many AviClear sessions you need depending on the severity of your acne and skin type.

Does AviClear Improve Acne Scarring?

Although this treatment does not address acne scarring, it can help with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and redness caused by acne. Your provider may recommend a laser skin resurfacing treatment such as the Pearl fractional laser, Radiofrequency Microneedling, or dermal filler injection with subcision to improve acne scars.
