Dr. Wei Jing Loo, Dermatologist & Medical Director
Dr. Wei Jing Loo’s path to Canada took her from her native Malaysia through Australia and the United Kingdom before the Royal College-certified dermatologist established her practice and medical spa in historic Hyde Park United Church in London, Ontario. As the owner and medical director of DermEffects, Dr. Loo combines her skill and engaging personality with a passion for art and aesthetics.

Few medical spas feature the exceptional expertise and industry-leading experience Dr. Loo brings to DermEffects. She serves as an associate investigator for Probity Medical Research, a Waterloo, Ontario, company that supports ongoing clinical research in fields including aesthetics and medical dermatology. She is also an adjunct professor at Western University in London, Ontario, where she teaches medical students.

World-Class Training
She completed medical school in 1997 with an honours degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She trained in internal medicine and obtained membership in the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom in 1999.
She completed her dermatology residency training in Cambridge, United Kingdom and obtained her Certificate of Specialist Training in Dermatology in 2005. She is board certified in dermatology as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Combining Art & Science
Dr. Loo initially wanted to pursue plastic surgery as a specialty due to her passion for art and aesthetics. But then she discovered that dermatology offered the best of both worlds, combining medical expertise with her keen eye for symmetry and artistry.

Dr. Loo’s passion for art and talent as an artist are further reflected in her commitment to charity. She has created and donated several of her own watercolour paintings to benefit various local organizations.
A One-of-a-Kind Medical Spa Facility
When Hyde Park United Church closed, many wanted to raze the building and redevelop the property. Dr. Loo saw the potential in saving the beautiful, unique building located on busy Hyde Park Road in a growing area of London.
She purchased the church, promising to preserve the historic structure while adding state-of-the-art medical spa technology. She renovated it to house DermEffects, where she oversees treatments as the medical director.
Materials were repurposed during the renovation or offered to Habitat for Humanity, which used windows and the interior staircase, banister, and landing.
DermEffects is located at the rear of the old Hyde Park United Church.
